In St Louis the action was centered mainly around the APTA Convention hotel, an Omni, situated in an old Train Station. Attached to this building was a mall, open to the public. Police and security started with a very authoritarian approach, and at one point falsely claimed ADAPT had made a bomb threat against APTA. By the end of the action, the chief of police was wearing one of the ADAPT headbands Arthur Campbell had made for this action. When we were arrested we were illegally forced to have HIV tests and at least one female ADAPT member who had very small veins was basically tortured as the jail staff would not relent in their efforts to get blood from her. A local attorney offered to represent us after the action to sue the jail and years later he won the case for us.
