[Headline] Disabled demonstrators arrested at Capitol

More than 100 disabled demonstrators were arrested yesterday in the second day of their protest at the Capitol to gain more federal dollars for in-home health care.

A total of 114 demonstrators were charged with unlawful entry and demonstrating in the Capitol — both misdemeanors, said Capitol Police spokesman Sgt. Dan Nichols. Most would be issued citations for later court appearances in D.C. Superior Court, he said.

About 500 protesters began what was scheduled to be the three-day demonstration Sunday. Rally organizer Mike Auberger said the group wanted federal funds shifted from nursing homes to in-home care, which is less expensive.
