LA Times, Oct 2 1984

Public transit officials, opening their annual convention in Washington, DC, were greeted with a wheelchair protest by about 100 disabled demonstrators who demanded that more be done to provide them access to buses, trains and subways. About 20 persons were arrested for breaking and police lines after the protesters, linking wheelchairs, blocked two entryways to the convention center where the meeting of the American Public Transit Assn. was under way.
