Wade died in the winter of 1993 so this was our first national action after that. We held a memorial for Wade and Lincoln on the steps of the Capitol facing the mall. But, as Wade would have wanted, we kept up the fight to Free Our People. At the White House we lined the fence and delivered our demands to the Clinton Administration. Previously we had won a meeting with HHS Secretary Shalala and we had two meetings, one for discussion and later, with the whole group, a listening session (see video) which was quite successful. The last day we went to AHCA headquarters and delivered the Certain Death Awards for the 10 Worst Nursing Homes in the country.
